Wallets That Support TAPSIGNER
Choose companion software by platform, policy, recovery workflow, and the checks it performs—not by logo alone.
The official TAPSIGNER site currently presents Nunchuk, Cove, Bitcoin Keeper, and Sparrow as compatible companion wallets. Support differs by platform and workflow. Verify the publisher, current release notes, certificate checks, backup behavior, derivation paths, and single-signature or multisignature features before choosing.
Integration status was reviewed on 2026-07-10. Wallet support is volatile; use each publisher's current documentation and app listing before purchase or setup.
Current companion-wallet matrix
| Wallet | Platforms shown by the official site | Best starting point | Important check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Nunchuk | Android, iOS, desktop | Guided TAPSIGNER setup; single-sig, multisig, and service plans | Know whether you are creating a self-managed wallet or accepting added service assumptions |
| Cove | Android, iOS | Mobile Bitcoin wallet with PSBT and hardware-wallet support | Confirm the current TAPSIGNER flow and backup export on your platform |
| Bitcoin Keeper | Android, iOS | Mobile custody and policy workflows | Confirm the exact wallet type, assets, recovery model, and TAPSIGNER role |
| Sparrow | Desktop | Desktop wallet with NFC reader support | Requires a supported external NFC reader and desktop smart-card configuration |
Nunchuk
Nunchuk publishes a dedicated TAPSIGNER starter page covering card use, subscription workflows, and backup decryption. It can use TAPSIGNER as a single key or one key in a multisig policy.
Start with the official Nunchuk page, then use the Coinkite Nunchuk setup checklist to preserve the backup, PIN, path, and wallet configuration.
Cove
Cove's official site states that it supports TAPSIGNER through its PSBT and hardware-wallet features. It offers mobile applications and publishes its code.
Check the current Cove website and verified app-store links. Confirm whether the workflow you need—new setup, existing-card import, signing, backup, or recovery—is implemented in the release you install.
Bitcoin Keeper
Bitcoin Keeper is listed on the official TAPSIGNER app grid for Android and iOS. Keeper offers wallet and vault/policy features, so “supported” does not identify one custody model.
Start at the Bitcoin Keeper official site. Before setup, document whether TAPSIGNER is the only signing key, one multisig cosigner, or part of a service-assisted plan. Preserve the complete configuration required to recover without the original phone.
Sparrow
Sparrow is a desktop Bitcoin wallet. Its official FAQ discusses NFC readers for TAPSIGNER and SATSCARD. Desktop NFC requires compatible reader hardware and operating-system smart-card support.
Use the official Sparrow website and NFC reader FAQ. Verify the Sparrow release signature, supported reader, derivation path, and wallet descriptor before funding.
How to evaluate any integration
A TAPSIGNER logo is only the beginning. Ask whether the wallet:
- verifies the Coinkite factory certificate;
- supplies and verifies the setup chain code;
- captures the encrypted backup without requesting the printed AES key;
- encourages backup before changing the factory CVC;
- exports derivation path, fingerprint, descriptor, and multisig policy;
- shows the complete transaction before asking for a tap;
- supports recovery without the original phone or service;
- links to current, verifiable releases and support channels.
No universal wallet file
TAPSIGNER is BIP-32 based, but wallet configurations can differ by path, script, descriptor, cosigners, and policy. Moving the card between applications does not guarantee that a new app will discover an old wallet automatically. Export and preserve the original wallet configuration.
Developers who want to add support should follow the integration checklist. Users should read backup and recovery and screenless signing tradeoffs before funding.
